Back to basics: What is Brow Henna?

Let’s rewind for a sec. If you’re new to the game, or just need a little refresher, Brow Henna is an eyebrow tint made from partly plant-based ingredients. It stains both the skin and brow hairs, making it perfect for creating bold, defined brows that last.

Our professional Brow Henna is loved by Brow Artists around the world for one reason: it delivers rich henna color with every application. Whether your client wants a soft, natural look or a more dramatic brow, there’s a match for everyone.

We’ve developed 6 carefully crafted shades to suit a wide range of skin tones and brow colors:

Not sure where to start? We’ve got you. Our Henna Brow Starter Kit includes everything you need to begin offering Henna Brow treatments right away.

How to store Henna (So it actually lasts)

Remember: Brow Henna is a professional product, so it has to be treated that way. And our job? To make sure you know exactly how! Because the secret to long-lasting henna results isn't just in how you apply it, but also in how you store it.

Here’s how to protect your professional Brow Henna from losing its power and keep those Henna Brow treatments performing like a dream:

💨 Air = Oxidation

Every time you open your henna jar, air sneaks in, causing oxidation. This slowly breaks down the formula, resulting in less pigment power and duller color. Always close the jar tightly right after scooping, and never leave it open longer than necessary during treatments.

Good to know: Our Brow Henna now comes with an extra protective layer in the lid - designed to minimize oxidation and help preserve the formula for as long as possible. Just one more way to keep your professional Brow Henna fresh and powerful!

💧 Keep your henna dry

Humidity is not your henna’s friend. A humid environment can cause the powder to clump, harden, or lose its strength, which means weak stains and disappointed clients. And we don’t want that!

Where does humidity creep in? Think:

  • Bathrooms with steamy showers

  • Treatment rooms with poor ventilation

  • Drawers next to sinks

  • Areas near towel warmers or humidifiers

  • Any spot where condensation might form (hello, facial steamers!)

  • Humid climates

  • Dipping in the henna with wet tools

To get the best out of your Henna Eyebrow Tint, always store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in a drawer or cabinet away from moisture, heat, and steam. Did you know that?

☀️ No sunlight or heat

Sunlight and heat are two major things that weaken your Brow Henna. They can break down the natural pigments, leading to poor skin staining and a short-lived result.

Here’s how to keep your Brow Henna safe:

  • Never store your jar on a windowsill or near a heater

  • Avoid placing it in direct sunlight during treatments - light exposure can already start degrading the powder

  • Keep it away from tools that get warm, like wax heaters, hot towels, or lash lamps

  • Don’t leave your henna kit in your car or near salon radiators (especially in summer!)

Your safest bet? A dark drawer or enclosed cabinet in your treatment room - far from heat sources, mirrors reflecting light, or sunlit spots on your shelf. Humans love the Sun! Henna doesn’t.

✋🏾 Use a spoon, not a brush

We get it - when you’re in a rush, it’s tempting to just dip your brush into the jar. But please don’t! Here’s why:

Dipping a wet brush into your henna jar introduces moisture, and moisture = trouble. It can cause:

  • Clumping and hardening of the powder

  • Breakdown of the formula, reducing staining power

  • Contamination that affects the quality of future applications

  • Bacterial growth, which is not just bad for the henna, it’s not hygienic for your clients either

Instead, always use a clean, dry spoon or spatula to scoop out exactly what you need. It keeps the rest of your professional brow henna safe, fresh, and ready to deliver rich, consistent results.. just how we like it.

Expiration date vs. Period after opening

Let’s be honest: using expired Brow Henna can sneak up on you. Maybe you opened the jar a while ago, and it looks fine… but your results start to fade faster, the stain seems weaker, and suddenly your Henna Brow treatments aren’t delivering like they used to, while the expiration date hasn't been met yet. How come?

That’s because even when stored correctly, Henna for eyebrows has a Period After Opening of 6 months. During those 6 months, you can trust the henna works like it should, but exposure to air, oxidation, humidity, and light slowly breaks down the formula over time, and that affects everything. After those 6 months, we can’t promise the same quality anymore.

So, in short, the two differences between expiration date & period after opening:

Expiration date: the maximum date until which the henna can be used, unopened. The date can be found on the bottom of the jar.

Period after opening: the 6 months in which you can use the henna after opening the jar, when stored correctly and uncontaminated by moisture. On cosmetics, this period can be found by checking the little open jar symbol.

Pro tip: Mark the date you opened your Brow Henna jar, so you know for sure you’re always using fresh henna.

Here’s what can happen when you’re using henna that’s past those 6 months:

  • The skin stain fades quicker than usual

  • Color appears uneven or patchy

  • The formula becomes harder to mix and less smooth to apply

  • The tint doesn’t grip the brow hairs the same way

  • Your results no longer last up to 2 weeks on the skin and 6 weeks on the hair

And that? Leads to client disappointment.. and fewer rebookings.

What fresh Henna delivers

Want to know the real reason pros love using fresh Brow Henna? Simply, it just performs better. When your formula is fresh, your clients notice - and so do their brows.

Here’s what you can expect with a fresh jar:

  • Rich, bold color with deeper staining power

  • Smooth, even application that glides on effortlessly

  • Clean shaping and more precise brow definition

  • Better adhesion to both skin and brow hairs

  • Results that last up to 2 weeks on the skin and 6 weeks on the hairs

  • Clients who leave happy and come back for more

When your tools are fresh, your results speak for themselves.

Henna Care Checklist: Make sure everything’s in order

Keep this checklist close to ensure your Brow Henna stays fresh and delivers flawless results every time:

  • Store your henna in a cool, dry, and dark place: Avoid bathrooms, windowsills, areas near heaters, or any humid environment.
  • Mark the opening date on the jar or in your calendar: Henna expires 6 months after opening. Set a reminder so you know exactly when to refresh your stock.
  • Test performance regularly: Watch for changes in texture, staining, or color intensity. If it’s clumpy, weak, or inconsistent, it’s time to replace it.
  • Use a clean, dry spoon - never a wet brush: This keeps the formula uncontaminated and protects its power.
  • Replace old henna on time: Expired henna can lead to faded, patchy results and client dissatisfaction. Set a reminder.

Now that you know how to store and care for your Brow Henna like a Pro - make sure you're working with a fresh jar and the right prep products to match and get everything out of your Brow Henna treatment.
