Semi-permanent vs. Permanent Makeup

Let's look at the difference between Semi-permanent and Permanent Makeup! So, semi-permanent makeup gives your clients a temporary option that looks like permanent makeup and lasts for a few weeks. On the other hand, permanent makeup (PMU) is, well, permanent and can last for years! If you're curious to learn more about how these techniques work together, check out our latest blog post on how these two treatments complement each other! However, do know that even Permanent makeup requires touch-ups every few years, or months, depending on the chosen treatment.

PMU Brow Treatments with our Brow Pigments Kit

We're excited to show you the amazing brow treatments you can achieve with our Brow Pigments Kit, just as we promised.

1. Ombré Brows and Powder Brows

Have you ever wondered about the difference between Ombré Brows and Powder Brows? These two popular PMU Brow Treatments may seem similar, but they each have their own unique style and technique that sets them apart. These two brow treatments are also known as microshading! It is a form of permanent makeup that can help create fuller and more defined eyebrows while still maintaining a natural appearance.

Ombré Brows and Powder Brows both use the same technique of inserting tiny dots of pigment into the skin using either a digital machine or a handheld tool. However, the key difference lies in the desired outcome and aesthetic.

Ombré Brows

When it comes to Ombré Brows, think of them as a fabulous option for long-lasting beauty with a soft gradient effect. These brows can last up to 3 or even more years, and sometimes even longer with proper care. However, to keep them looking fresh, touch-ups may be needed after 2 years.

One amazing thing about Ombré Brows is how they mimic the appearance of powder makeup when fully healed. As the pigment settles into the skin, it creates a soft, blended effect that enhances the natural beauty of eyebrows. So, even as time passes, the brows maintain their soft and natural-looking appearance, ensuring your clients always look their best. And remember, the healed brows should never be patchy, ensuring a consistent and flawless look day after day.

Ombre Brows

Powder Brows

On the other hand, Powder Brows offer a different approach to lasting beauty. These brows heal softly, giving them the appearance of soft powder brows once fully healed. Like Ombré Brows, Powder Brows can last up to 2 or 3 years, providing your clients with long-lasting results that stand the test of time.

Powder Brows can also work great as a cover for microblading, giving eyebrows a seamless enhancement without needing extra touch-ups. Also, after Powder Brows have fully healed and peeled, they might look about 40% lighter than when first applied. It's totally normal, so your clients have no need to worry if the brows appear lighter than expected after peeling.

So, what is the main difference between Ombré Brows and Powder Brows? Powder brows create a solid, filled-in look similar to brow makeup, while Ombré Brows feature a gradient effect with lighter fronts and darker tails for a more natural appearance.

Pro tip #1: Here's a valuable tip from the talented PMU Professional Chloé: If you find that your results are coming back too light, that you have to redo the entire set, it's crucial to ensure that you're building more passes over the brow. If you notice that your results are appearing too dark or patchy, Chloé recommends a practice using a lighter hand and maintaining consistent pressure while working on a latex skin before attending to your next client.

Powder Brows

2. Nano Brows

Are you curious about Nano Brows, also known as Machine Nano Brows? This technique delivers a similar effect to Microblading, but with a gentler approach that works on a shallower skin layer. Nano Brows cater to a wide range of skin types, including thin, sensitive, or excessively oily skin. The durability of Nano Brows is up to 1.5 years.

The machine tool used for Nano Brows allows the artist to create hyper-realistic hair strokes without penetrating as deeply as with handheld tools used in Microblading. It can create more various sort of hair strokes, that are gentler and less traumatic for the skin compared to microblading. This makes Nano Brows an ideal choice for people with thin, oily, or sensitive skin!

Pro Tip #2: Unlike some other brow techniques, Nano Brows do not leave scars. Invest in professional training and certification to ensure you have the skills and qualifications needed to create flawless brows without the risk of scarring. Your clients will thank you for it!

3. Permanent Eyeliner

Have you heard about Permanent Eyeliner, also known as cat-eye? It's a super popular makeup treatment that helps you achieve a stunning and eye-catching look. This technique involves using a special needle and machine to deposit pigment along the lash line, creating a precise and long-lasting line that can last for 2-4 years with proper care. How amazing is it when your clients don’t have to struggle daily with creating two even lines?

By offering Permanent Eyeliner as part of your services, you can really enhance your clients' beauty and show off your skills as a Brow Professional. And with the fantastic range of colors in the Brow Pigments Kit, you can create custom eyeliner shades to match every client's unique style and preference. Whether it's a touch of drama with Mahogany or a classic look with Black Umber, the options are endless. Your clients will love being able to wake up and head out without any hassle of doing their makeup!

Not compatible with Microblading

You are probably familiar with one of the most famous PMU Brow Treatments: Microblading. Why can't you use the Brow Pigments in our Capsule Collection by Perma Blend for this brow treatment?

Microblading uses a handheld tool with tiny needles to create hair-like strokes in the skin, while the Brow Pigments Kit is formulated for machine-based permanent makeup techniques and doesn’t make little cuts in the skin. These methods require different application methods and pigment penetration depths compared to microblading. However, Nano Brows are very similar to Microblading, so there is no need to worry about not being able to create realistic hair strokes!
