Baby Brow Lamination vs Fluffy Brow Lamination: Which Brow Lamination style suits your client?

written byMaria Agustin

We all love the fluffy, full look that Brow Lamination creates. But let’s be honest, for some clients, that super lifted, “wet fluffy” style can feel a little too bold. The good news? The beauty world always finds a solution - Baby Brow Lamination! In this blog post, we’ll break down the difference between Baby Brow Lamination and the classic fluffy laminated look, when to recommend each style, and how to help your clients choose the brow that suits them best.

What is Fluffy Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination ↗ (aka Fluffy) is one of the most popular brow treatments in salons today. The treatment relaxes the brow hairs so they can be brushed and styled into a new direction, creating fuller, lifted, and more defined brows.

Many Brow Artists combine Brow Lamination with Liquid Dye ↗ to add color and define the shape even more. The result? Polished, structured brows that stay in place for around 4–6 weeks.

And the best part: Brow Lamination is completely customizable. You can create the classic fluffy laminated look or go for a softer, more natural result - like Baby Brow Lamination.

What is Baby Brow Lamination?

Have you ever heard the term Baby Brow Lamination before? If not, let us explain!

Baby Brow Lamination is a basically a more gentle lamination. Instead of lifting and brushing all brow hairs upward, you only laminate the very front of the brow.

This creates a soft lift at the front, while the rest of the brow remains styled in its natural direction. The result looks structured and clean, but not overly fluffy or dramatic.

Many Brow Artists choose this technique for clients who don’t want the full laminated look, but still want that lifted look.

What is the difference between Baby and Fluffy Brow Lamination?

It mainly comes down to how much of the brow you laminate and how the hairs are styled, based on the wishes of your client!

Baby Brow Lamination focuses only on the front of the brows. The brow fronts are lifted slightly to create a soft, open look, while the rest of the brow stays styled in its natural direction. The result is natural, clean, and for everyone.

Important: We’ve seen some photos online showing only the tail of the brow laminated and calling it “baby brows.” That’s not what Baby Brow Lamination means. The technique focuses on the front of the brow, not the tail.

Fluffy Brow Lamination, on the other hand, laminates the entire brow. The hairs are brushed upward to create that full, textured, fluffy brow look that became popular on social media.

In short:

Baby Brow Lamination

  • Laminates mainly the front of the brows
  • Creates a soft, natural lift
  • Ideal for clients who want a subtle result and don't like the wet fluffy look that Fluffy Lamination creates the first few days

Fluffy Brow Lamination

  • Laminates the entire brow
  • Creates a full, brushed-up effect
  • Ideal for clients who love a bold, fluffy brow look, good for full brows

Who is Baby Brow Lamination for?

Not every client wants the full fluffy brow look - and that’s exactly when you introduce them to Baby Brow Lamination. This softer technique is perfect for clients who want a subtle lift without the dramatic laminated effect.

Baby Brow Lamination works especially well for:

  1. First-time lamination clients - Clients who are curious about Brow Lamination but feel unsure about the very lifted look often feel more comfortable starting with a baby brow style.
  2. Clients who prefer natural results - Some clients simply want their brows to look clean, groomed, and structured, not overly styled. As if they would use Brow Gel at home.
  3. Clients with already full brows - If the brows already have good density, laminating only the front can open up the face while keeping the shape natural.
  4. Mature clients - A softer lift at the front can make the brows look fresh and lifted without looking too bold.
  5. Clients who wear minimal makeup - Baby Brows pair beautifully with a natural beauty look, making them perfect for clients who prefer subtle treatments.

When to offer Fluffy Brow Lamination

Some clients walk into your salon and already know what they want: full, brushed-up, fluffy brows. That’s when you introduce Fluffy Brow Lamination.

This style works best for clients who:

  1. Love a bold brow look - If your client brings Instagram or TikTok photos of very lifted, fluffy brows, this is the technique they’re looking for.
  2. Have brow hairs that grow downward or messy - Lamination helps redirect stubborn hairs upward, giving the brows a cleaner and more lifted shape.
  3. Want their brows to look fuller - By brushing the hairs up, you can create more volume and coverage, which is great for clients with small gaps.
  4. Already style their brows every day - Clients who use brow gel or soap brows daily will love fluffy lamination because it gives them that look without the effort every morning.

Should you price Baby Brow Lamination differently?

We know what you’re thinking: Should I charge less if I use less product? Is this still profitable?

The answer is simple: do what feels right for your salon. Every business is different.

That said, we usually recommend keeping the same price. In reality, you’re not using dramatically less product, and the processing times remain exactly the same. Your client still spends the same amount of time in your chair, and you’re still performing the full treatment!

So even though the styling focuses more on the front of the brows, the time, expertise, and salon resources involved are the same.

1. Prep the Brows

Clean the brows with Foam Cleanser ↗ to remove makeup, oil, and residue. This helps the lamination products work evenly.

2. Apply No.1 Relaxing Solution

Using a microbrush, apply No.1 Relaxing Solution ↗

For Baby Brow Lamination: apply it only to the front of the brows. Gently brush the brow fronts upward to create the soft baby brow effect.

For Fluffy Brow Lamination: apply the product to the entire brow and brush all hairs upward.

Leave it to process for 5–6 minutes, then remove with a cotton pad.

3. Fix the Shape

Apply No.2 The Laminate ↗ to the same areas where you applied step 1.

Baby Brows: set the front section in its lifted position while the rest of the brow stays natural.

Fluffy Brows: brush the entire brow upward to create that full laminated look.

Let it process for 5–7 minutes, then remove with a cotton pad.

4. Style the Brows

Style the brows depending on the desired look.

Baby Brow Lamination: keep the front softly lifted and style the rest of the brow in a natural direction.

Fluffy Brow Lamination: brush the hairs upward for a full, textured fluffy brow look.

5. Nourish and Finish

Finish the treatment with No.3 Nourishing Elixir ↗. Apply it through the entire brow to hydrate, restore, and protect the hairs.
