Too soon for Henna or Dye? What to do In between Brow Treatments

written byRafaela Tessari

One of the most frustrating things as a Brow Artist? Having to say no when a client wants a retouch the moment her Henna or Liquid Dye starts to fade. You know it’s too soon to reapply, but that doesn’t make the conversation any easier.

The good news? There is a safe way to handle this moment. With SNAP, the new PPD-free Gel Tint, you can refresh the brows in between treatments - without overprocessing the hair. Let’s walk through everything you need to know about safely refreshing brows between appointments.

Why you shouldn’t re-dye with Henna or Liquid Dye too soon

When a client’s tint fades quickly, they call you to reapply Henna ↗ or Liquid Dye ↗.

But here's the thing.. Both Brow Henna and Liquid Dye are color treatments that work on the skin and/or the hair, and when you apply them too frequently, you risk stressing the brow hairs.

Reapplying too soon can lead to:

  • Overprocessing
  • Dry brow hairs
  • Breakage (especially on fine brows)
  • Uneven results

The hair structure changes, and the results get harder to control. And the most important task for you as a Brow Artist is to keep the client's brows flawless and healthy.

That’s why, as a general rule, it’s best to wait around 6 weeks between full Henna or Liquid Dye treatments - so the brows can stay healthy and strong.

What is SNAP and why it saves the day

If you don’t know SNAP ↗ yet, here's what you need to know.

SNAP is a Brow Gel Tint developed for sensitive skin, formulated without peroxides or PPD! So innovative, right? SNAP comes in 5 carefully selected shades ↗ , designed to give a natural-looking skin stain that enhances the brow shape without overpowering it.

But SNAP is more than just a “tint for sensitive skin”.

Did you know that SNAP can be reapplied immediately? No waiting period. No risk of overprocessing. No stress on the brow hairs.

That’s exactly why SNAP works so well in between Henna or Liquid Dye treatments - and why it has quickly become a go-to solution for Brow Artists dealing with frequent retouches and last-minute clients.

How to use SNAP

SNAP is PPD-free, and it only tints the skin - not the brow hairs. That’s why it requires a slightly different approach than Liquid Dye or Brow Henna.

Because SNAP colors only the skin, prepping is everything. If the skin is oily or covered in skincare residue, the tint won’t absorb evenly. That’s why we always recommend using Prep Peel Gel ↗ before applying!

Another big difference? The texture. You don’t need any oxidant or developer! No mixing. No activators. Just shake and apply straight from the bottle.

Now, let’s get into the steps.

  1. Prep & Clean: Clean the area with Pro Cleanser ↗, then use Prep Peel Gel to remove sebum and improve skin adhesion.
  2. Shake & Apply: Remove the plastic tip completely, or cut off half of it so the gel flows through smoothly. Apply around 4–5 drops (or ± 1 cm of product) directly in your desired brow shape.
  3. Remove the Front (for a soft ombré) For a natural, blended brow, remove the front of the brow after a few seconds. This creates a soft ombré effect and keeps the result light at the start.
  4. Let It Absorb: Leave SNAP on for 20 seconds up to 5 minutes, depending on the intensity you want.

Want a bolder result? No need to remove it - SNAP absorbs instantly into the skin.

If the color turns out too intense, simply soften it using the Color Corrector ↗.

Saying YES with SNAP

Clients don’t always come back when it’s “perfect timing”. They come back when they need their brows to look good - sometimes it means right now.

Usually it is:

  • a wedding this weekend
  • a last-minute photoshoot
  • an important meeting
  • a date
  • any reason to look extra cute ;)

or they simply want their brows refreshed because they love the bold look. We get it.

With SNAP, you can tell them "YES, come ASAP! I can fit you in the schedule for a super quick retouch."

Because SNAP is safe to use in between treatments, your client can come in earlier than 6 weeks - and you can still keep brow health protected.

And the other great part? It’s quick.

A SNAP Brow Refresh fits perfectly into a busy salon day. It’s a short service you can easily squeeze in between appointments, meaning:

  • you can take more bookings
  • you can fill gaps in your schedule
  • your clients can come in more often
  • and your client leaves happy (which always comes back to you)

How to add SNAP to your services

The easiest way is to treat SNAP as a separate in-between service, for example:

SNAP Brow Refresh (10–15 min)

You can offer it as:

  • a standalone mini appointment
  • an add-on to another service
  • or a quick “maintenance” booking between full brow treatments

This gives your clients more flexibility - and gives you more YES moments in your calendar. Isn't it what we all want?
