Lovely Words from Founder Manouk de Vries | Christmas Wishes
written byManouk de Vries
My dearest customers,
This time of year always invites a pause. A moment to look back. Not just at what’s changed in our industry, but within our community - and within myself.
This year gave me something valuable: clarity. Clarity about what truly matters, what values I want to live by, and the kind of woman I’ve become through it all. Every time I reflect, I feel proud to be part of an industry where feminine values aren't an afterthought - they are the foundation. You see it in the way we create, support each other, and show up with heart. Supercilium has always been built on care, intuition, creativity, and collaboration. It’s our ecosystem.
I was raised by a feminist mother - the kind of woman who believed that true equality meant reclaiming your body and your choices. Later, the Spice Girls taught me another kind of feminism: individuality, confidence, and the belief that women can do anything. But growing older, I realized the world still expected us to still lead like men: to be dominant, competitive, strong at all costs. That never felt like home to me.
Now, something new is rising. I see a generation that’s not afraid to stay close to softness. A generation that leads with emotional intelligence, intuition, and connection - and doesn’t apologize for it. That kind of leadership? I discovered that’s the norm in our Supercilium community. The beginning of a new movement. And that’s something I want to celebrate, now and in the future.
This year also brought personal transformation. I began working with girls and women who’ve survived human trafficking and emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. I’ve been teaching them about self-image. And in doing so, I’ve realized: everything I’ve learned over the past ten years suddenly clicked. You - our customers, our artists, this entire community - have shown me just how deeply self-image shapes a woman’s life. You've given me the tools to help others rebuild theirs.
And with that insight, I’ve made an important decision:
I am stepping down as CEO of Supercilium.
Not because I’m stepping away - but because I’m stepping into something new. A mission I feel deeply called to pursue. It’s time to create space for the next generation of leadership in Supercilium.
I want to take what I’ve learned about self-image and bring it to women and girls who haven’t had the same opportunities. After ten years in beauty, I know this for sure: inner and outer beauty are never separate. And now I feel ready to work from the inside out - and sometimes from the outside in - wherever healing is needed.
I’m not leaving Supercilium fully. I’ll still be here - developing new products, nurturing this community, and supporting the brand’s vision. I’m simply handing over the day-to-day leadership to a new team I feel incredibly proud of.
We built this brand together.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Not just as customers, but as a true community I’m so damn proud of.
I see you.
And I’m so deeply grateful for your trust, your belief, and your care.
With love,
Manouk de Vries
