Why does PMU fade over time?
Even though PMU (Permanent Makeup) is designed to last, it doesn’t stay perfect forever. Over time, the pigment in the skin naturally breaks down due to factors like sun exposure, skin cell turnover, and skincare products containing acids or retinol.
As a result, PMU brows start to fade or shift in tone - sometimes turning ashy, green, reddish, or grey depending on the pigment used and the client’s skin type. When does PMU need a retouch?
Most PMU treatments - like microblading, powder brows, or nano brows - stay fresh for about 1 to 3 years, depending on the client’s skin type, lifestyle, and of course - aftercare.
