Before we jump in to the beautiful before and afters so you can see just how much of a difference symmetrical, henna brows make--let's talk about some of the most commonly asked questions regarding henna!
HOW IS BROW HENNA DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR DYE?
One of the main differences is the chemical components in henna vs regular dye. The percentage of PPD(the ammonia in most colorants to enhance the pigment and provide lasting results) is entirely different and regular dye uses a peroxide oxidant to activate the color.
However, one of the biggest differences is the stain. Regular dye only sticks to the hairs, whereas; henna sticks to the hair AS WELL as the skin under it. This advantage of tinting beyond the surface allows for thicker appearing brows and the ability to shape, create symmetry, and give thinner looking brows a thicker appearance.
Therefore, you can create deeper, bolder existing brows by adding the color--and adding dimension and shape with tinting the underlying skin as well.
HOW DO HENNA BROWS WORK?
It's simple as can be. First, you decide on a shape and thickness of brows that work best with your client's face and eye shape. This shape can be drawn or "mapped" out beforehand to make your work much easier and more accurate. Once the brow is shaped out, the brow area can be cleansed and the henna can be mixed to create the perfect consistency. Then the henna is applied onto the brows by pressing it into the skin to create a "stamp-like" tattoo effect. You then wait the correct amount of time for it to set, wipe it off with water and the process is complete! You can always add a bit of a touch up with a brow pencil or pomade for the perfect set of brows.
WHAT TYPE OF BROWS DOES HENNA WORK BEST WITH?
Henna typically works best with clients who have a good base eyebrow with some sparse areas that need "filling in". This saves a lot of time in the morning rather than doing your eyebrows everyday. Dry skin is always much better than oily when it comes to henna as the oilier the skin type, the more difficult it is for the henna to take. If a client is more dry, it's less likely that the henna will lift from the skin as quickly.
WHAT HENNA COLORS ARE THERE?
This varies but our Supercilium range carries 6 different shades including Blonde, Golden Brown, Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, and Black. We are always striving for inclusion and constantly thinking of how to incorporate more into our color range.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
This varies from person to person based on their skin type, how often they wash their face, what they use etc. As mentioned, the oilier the skin--the shorter the duration of result.
Now, the fun part! Take a look at the results of some of our beautiful brow bosses using our Supercilium Brow Henna Starter Kit.
